European STEM Professional Development Centre Network
The European STEM Professional Development Centre Network (STEM PD Net), founded in 2014 on the initiative of the University of Education Freiburg and the DZLM (German Centre for Mathematics Education), today comprises 30 institutions from across Europe. It aims to ensure that all young people are provided with the best possible STEM education by supporting international exchange on a key factor to achieve this - the continuous professional development of STEM teachers.
Each network institution is independent and has its own specific focus while all network members serve as regional centres in the coordination, development, delivery, and/or promotion of the professional development of teachers in the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
The centres cooperate internationally so as to improve their regional work and to strengthen a common European voice of STEM teacher professional development centres as they nowadays exist in many European countries.
The network membership is free of charge and the network is open for further centres to join!
The European STEM PD Centre Network has its Secreteriat at ICSE, University of Education Freiburg in Germany. Visit the STEM PD Net websites for further information about the network, its members, upcoming meetings, papers published, etc.
STEM PD Net is also the name of an innovative Erasmus+ project in which network members work together to strengthen European collaboration and exchange among STEM PD centres. The project runs from 2016-2019. All information can be accessed here.
