Geowindow - model, visualize and learn interactively
Project manager: Dr. Dominik Conrad (PH Ludwigsburg),Prof. Dr. Gregor C. Falk and Dipl. Geologe Matthias Faller (both PH Freiburg)
Many geoscientific structures and processes cannot be directly experienced due to their enormous temporal and spatial dimensions. The "geowindow", developed at Freiburg University of Education, is an innovative hands-on activity tool for geography lessons. The Geowindow is able to visualize most "hidden" processes such as ocean currents, groundwater flows, waves, landslides, volcanic eruptions and many more. It offers the necessary infrastructure to quickly and easily model processes in the context of the Earth system. As an interactive and analogue teaching and learning tool, the "geowindow" is suitable for all types of schools and for teaching geoscientific content at universities. In order to support use, proliferation and development of the "geowindow", the Institute for Geography at the University of Education in Freiburg and the Department of Geography at the University of Education in Ludwigsburg established the collaborative project "Modelling with the Geowindow".
