The name ReCCE stands for Research Center for Climate Change Education and Education for Sustainable Development. The Research Center is a central scientific institution of the University of Education Freiburg for research in the field of empirical educational research in the fields of

  • Climate Change Education (CCE) and
  • Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

News/Updates

We are delighted to welcome Ms. Anna Liolios-Zimmermann to our ranks as Managing Director of ReCCE as of 01.12.2023. We wish her a good start and every success for her future challenges!

The ReCCE was present at this year's "Netzwerkforum BNE-BW 2030 - partizipieren.integrieren.transformieren" in Stuttgart. Dr. Eva-Maria Waltner gave a short presentation on the aspect of "transforming". Together with Prof. Dr. Astrid Carrapatoso, she organized a themed table on "When does ESD work?". The ReCCE and ICCE had their own stand at the "Market of Opportunities".

The contents and dates for the ReCCE's own research colloquium in the winter semester 2023/24 have now been set. We are pleased to be able to offer you such a diverse range of lectures followed by discussions. All interested parties (including non-members) are cordially invited to the lectures. These take place weekly on Thursdays from 16:15 to 17:45 in room KA 211. Online participation is also possible. The link as well as the dates and contents can be found here.

A full-day network conference is planned for June 16, 2023 (9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.) to help the ICCE consortium partners get to know each other.
The event will take place on the premises of the Freiburg University of Education.

The grand opening of the ReCCE will take place on June 15, 2023 in the auditorium of the Freiburg University of Education. As part of the opening ceremony, the ReCCE will also join forces with partner universities to form an international research consortium - the International Consortium for Climate Change Education and Education for Sustainable Development (ICCE). The representatives of the partner universities from Germany, Austria and Switzerland will come together on this day for the ceremonial founding.

Guests from science and politics are also expected, including high-ranking representatives of the state government, which is funding the research center through three ministries.
