International Consortium for Climate Change Education and Education for Sustainable Development (ICCE)

The ICCE is an association of universities and research institutions with renowned fields of work in interdisciplinary empirical educational research on climate education (ECE) and education for sustainable development (ESD). It serves to promote international exchange. The purpose of the consortium is in particular

  1. to conduct empirical educational research on climate education (EC) and education for sustainable development (ESD) in international cooperation;
  2. to jointly gain scientific knowledge and disseminate it through scientific communication with the aim of improving the evidence base and effectiveness of CR and ESD in formal education (i.e. in the state-organized education system with the elementary level (kindergarten, child day care), the primary level (elementary school), the secondary levels I and II as well as the tertiary level (including universities, universities of applied sciences) but also in non-formal education (offers outside the formal curriculum, e.g. at extracurricular learning locations).

To this end, the consortium undertakes joint initiatives focusing on the areas of (1) research/development and (2) transfer and dissemination.
