Bangladesh: Education for sustainable engagement in the earth system

Development and evaluation of innovative didactic and methodological approaches in geo and environmental sciences at the University of Rajshahi and the Freiburg University of Education

Bangladesh's education system is partly based on British traditions. In recent decades, both the structures and the curricula have been modified and further developed. Institutionalized didactic and methodological training for lecturers and researchers is limited in Bangladesh and only available as part of general pedagogical training. Courses in subject-specific education and training in the sense of a modern professional methodology are not yet established. The aim of the project is to develop, offer and evaluate course modules for the didactics and methodology of geography and other environmental sciences. With regard to an education for sustainable engagement in the Earth system, especially in the context of dynamic land use- and climate changes, geography plays a key role in research and teaching. In this context, a specifically didactically optimized methodology offers an additional qualitative element.
