„Europe through the eyes of children”

The exhibition „Europe through the eyes of children” was created from posters by schoolchildren from Freiburg with the help of students in Teacher Training. 

As part of the seminars „Europa“ als Unterrichtsthema aus (fach)didaktischer Perspektive [„Europe as a topic for school lessons from the perspective of (subject-specific) didactics], the participating students of the University of Education Freiburg dealt with the subject "Europe" for school lessons from the perspective of various (school) subjects theoretically and practically-didactically. They developed their teaching competence regarding the topics Europe, the European Union and the theory of Europeanization and  planned school lessons about these topics for heterogeneous learning groups in different school forms.

Most of the posters shown in the exhibition were created as part of these teaching units. Other posters were created as part of the integrated semester internship by students in Teacher Training at the Turnseeschule Freiburg.

The Jean Monnet Chair for European Education in Freiburg organized two study trips to the European Parliament in Strasbourg for interested pupils and students.

The pupils and students learned about the function and operation of the European Parliament and voted in a conference room - like real members of parliament - on various issues related to "environmental protection".
The students performed the song "Entdecke Europa" by the Cool Kids and visited the exhibition "Europa mit Kinderaugen" (Europe with children's eyes) in the area 'Emilio Colombo' and with great joy discover there posters they created themselves.
