Training for Teachers

How can complex EU policies related to the European Green Deal be taught in a way that is understandable, practical, and relevant for the classroom?

EUTEG supports teachers in integrating European environmental and climate policies into their lessons through the use of role plays and simulation games. In addition to providing teaching and learning materials, the project offers teacher training courses that combine subject-specific knowledge on EU environmental and climate policy with didactic and methodological skills for simulation-based teaching.

The training courses focus on helping teachers understand EU decision-making processes and on enabling them to use role plays as a structured teaching method. Teachers learn how to prepare, conduct, and reflect on simulation games in order to address political negotiations in a competent, balanced, and student-oriented way.

To reach different stages of teacher education, the EUTEG training programme is implemented at multiple levels:

  • pre-service teacher education,
  • teacher trainees (in-job training), and
  • in-service teacher training.

By addressing all stages of teacher education, EUTEG aims to support the long-term integration of European environmental and climate policy into school teaching.
