The Path to a Professorship

Here you will find information on appointment procedures and opportunities for junior and tenure-track professorships, newly appointed and experienced professors, such as CoWi:PH (coaching for academics at the University of Education Freiburg), MenTa (tandem mentoring) and m.powerment (the mentoring programme of the Universities of Education in Baden-Württemberg).

Part I of the University of Education Freiburg's statutes and quality assurance concept for junior and tenure-track professorships, dated 4 May 2020, contains general provisions, as well as regulations on extensions due to childcare or other caring responsibilities. Part II sets out the regulations on the procedure (e.g. interim evaluation), while Part III contains the regulations on the procedure for tenure-track professorships (feedback, removal of time limits and evaluation criteria).

This complements the internal coaching offered by qualified university staff.

M.powerment is a joint mentoring programme run by the six Universities of Education in Baden-Württemberg in collaboration with the Graduate Academy of the Universities of Education in Baden-Württemberg (graPH). This two-year programme supports postdoctoral researchers aspiring to an academic career, as well as individuals who hold a junior professorship or tenure-track professorship at a University of Education in Baden-Württemberg. It helps them to reflect on their potential and identify various career paths and opportunities, thus advancing their professional and personal development.
