Support for Doctoral Candidates and Postdocs

The University of Education Freiburg attaches great importance to supporting researchers from an early stage in their academic careers. The Prorector for Research and Academic Career Development ensures that the needs of early career researchers are always taken into account by the Rectorate.

Since 2011, all services for prospective doctoral candidates, doctoral candidates and postdocs have been bundled and further developed under the umbrella of the Graduate Academy for Educational Sciences (BiwAk). BiwAk is thus the central point of contact at the University of Education Freiburg for academics in the early stage of their careers. In addition, the Graduate Academy of the Universities of Education in Baden-Württemberg (graph) complements the local offerings for structured academic career development.
