Research stay of PhD student Andrea García Basanta from Spain
During March and April 2026, Andrea García Basanta from the Autonomous University of Madrid will undertake a research stay at the Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg, where she will collaborate with Prof. Thurn. The aim of this stay is to deepen her knowledge of history didactics and its methodologies, particularly in relation to the teaching and learning of prehistory, and to integrate this perspective into her PhD project on knowledge transfer from archaeology to education.
With a background in archaeology, this stay will allow her to engage with approaches from history didactics that are essential for analysing the relationship between Palaeolithic archaeological sites and local schools, as well as their educational potential. The project explores how these sites can contribute to transforming perceptions of the past, fostering historical consciousness, and serving as valuable educational resources.
