Description:
This course is for those eager to explore the interconnected worlds of networking and cybersecurity. It combines key aspects from CCNA, networking security, and cybersecurity basics, providing a comprehensive understanding of network infrastructure and security. Participants will delve into networking principles, grasp the details of CCNA, enhance their understanding of network security, and gain insights into cybersecurity fundamentals. Through hands-on learning and real-world examples, students will develop both knowledge and practical skills to effectively navigate the dynamic fields of networking and cybersecurity. By the end of the course, students should be able to configure, troubleshoot, and create their own projects to meet market requirements.
This course is organized in collaboration with the Working Group Afghanistan Freiburg, SAIH, and the Academy for Continuing Education at the University of Education Freiburg. Additionally, students will receive financial support to cover their internet expenses.
Target Audience:
Empowering Afghan Girls in IT Networking:
This course is designed for beginners and experienced IT Students looking to enhance their skills in IT networking. With the ban on schooling and university attendance for Afghan girls and women after August 15, 2021, due to the Taliban's restrictions on women's education in Afghanistan, this course becomes essential. It aims to keep education alive and motivate Afghan girls to pursue their studies and careers despite the challenges.
What we learn:
1. Networking Fundamentals: core networking principles and introduction of advanced topics like DHCP, DNS, OSI Model, and TCP/IP Protocol Suite.
2. Introduction to CCNA: Explore Cisco CCNA certification covering advanced routing protocols, VLANs, and virtualization technologies.
3. Overview of Network Models and Protocols: Understand the fundamental concepts behind network models and protocols. Explore topics such as OSI Model Layers and TCP/IP Protocol Stack, Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, BGP ), Transport Layer Protocols (TCP, UDP), and Application Layer Protocols (HTTP, FTP, SNMP).
3. Networking Security Principles: Grasp network security fundamentals and advanced concepts including firewalls, IDS/IPS, ACLs, and network segmentation.
5. Advanced Networking Technologies: Explore advanced networking devices and technologies such as routers with advanced features, layer 3 switching, wireless LAN security.
6. Troubleshooting in Networking: Learn advanced troubleshooting techniques including, performance analysis, and security threat mitigation, and incident response.
7. Cybersecurity Best Practices: Explore cybersecurity fundamentals, encompassing awareness of phishing attacks, the importance of strong passwords, regular software updates, vigilance against social engineering tactics, safe browsing practices, data backup and recovery procedures, privacy protection measures, reporting suspicious activity, and fostering a cybersecurity culture..
8. Networking Enterprise Projects: Engage in real-world projects tailored for enterprise environments, utilizing your expertise to design, implement, and troubleshoot intricate network infrastructures. These projects are designed to prepare you for professional networking roles and meet market demands.

Enrollment Requirements:
- Own a laptop
- Possess at least one year of experience in computer sciences or related fields involving IT subjects
- Proficiency in the English language
- Competence in using the Windows operating system, email, video calling services, and file sharing via Google Drive
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
- Stable internet connection
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Windows applications (Word & PowerPoint)
- Attendance Requirement: Regular attendance throughout the course is mandatory
- Participants must keep their camera turned on during class sessions
- A refund will be issued if a participant decides to leave the course before its completion
Organizing institutions & Certificate:
The course is organized by the Working Group Afghanistan in close collaboration with the Academy for Further Education at the University of Education Freiburg.
After successfully completing the course online, including assignments, projects, and final exams, participants will receive a certificate from the University of Education Freiburg.
