Gastaufenthalte im Mai 2023
Frau Maria Impedovo (Researcher) von der Universität Marseille:
1. Why did you choose to stay at the PH Freiburg?
I was invited to the "Virtual Collaboration in European Teacher Education" project led by Vertr. Prof. Dr. Vasileios Symeonidis
2. What are you particularly looking forward to?
Aix Marseille University is happy to be partner of this project. I am looking forward to give my contribution into the design, develop and implement a virtual exchange (VE) in initial teacher education
(ITE), aiming to enhance student teachers' professional awareness as European teachers.
3. Can you tell us about a project you are currently working on or recently completed?
I have previously worked with the collegue on designing a VE to enhance student
teachers’ professional learning as European teachers based on a review of the literature and identification of
best practices. In the proposed project, the design of the VE will be further developed and the VE itself will be
integrated in a flexible way in the teacher education programmes
4. What was the last book you read and what did you learn from it?

1. Why did you choose to stay at the PH Freiburg?
Marija: Because PH Freiburg is a similar institution to ours in Zagreb.
Ida: Our IRO office is newly established and I wanted to gain more insight and positive practice ideas from a partner university that I knew has much experience and a great reputation.
2. What are you particularly looking forward to?
Marija: I was particularly looking forward to seeing how the studies are structured as well as the organization of the PH Freiburg itself, its Faculties, Management Board and administrative support services.
Ida: I was looking forward to meeting fellow colleagues at the IRO Office.
3. Can you tell us about a project you are currently working on or recently completed?
Marija: Within the scope of my work I am involved in the Faculty building reconstruction projects that are currently running and that are financed by the European Union Solidarity Fund (EUSF). The projects come as a result of the damage of the 2020 earthquakes that hit Petrinja and Zagreb and the areas surrounding the two cities.
Ida: A brochure with projects of the Faculty of Teacher Education of the University of Zagreb will be prepared in the coming months. A project overview is available here.
Apart from Faculty-run projects, we have several projects running in the Research and International Relations Office that are of a smaller scale and have to do with tools for our academic staff for running KA2 projects, upgrading our web-site, improving our projects’ database.
4. What was the last book you read and what did you learn from it?
Marija: I read the original book “Das Leben ist gut” by Alex Capus that deals with the importance of the small things in life and love as the basis of all that matters in life. It is a book that belongs to modern literature, but deals with the topic in a very simple way.
Ida: I read “Normal people” by an Irish author, Sally Rooney. It is a book on interpersonal relations in today’s complicated world. I was impressed with how this novel was so well-written, and by such a young, promising author.
